I’m not known for my optimism when it comes to the animal cause, and I completely understand the weariness and helplessness one can feel after years of defending it. But continuing to take concrete actions is good for morale!
So, each season, I’ll introduce you to an organization that fights for animals! The GroinGroin Association, located in Sarthe, takes in farm animals and domestic animals. It’s also an information center on pigs, aimed at preventing the abandonment of domestic pigs.
This sanctuary is home to about a hundred animals living happily on 12 hectares. All of them were rescued from slaughterhouses, farms, abuse, or abandonment. In addition to pigs, they have chickens, turkeys, cows, donkeys, horses, goats, dogs, and cats!
Since the sanctuary was established in 2005, the association has rescued and rehomed over 2,000 animals. They gladly welcome volunteers and donations, for instance, by sponsoring an animal!
