So if you haven't heard from us in a little while, it's because we were busy almost dying from the heat! But we survived, so did the cat, and we're here to satisfy your cravings for freshness ;) 

You've probably noticed that we're not really the plain green salad type... but sometimes, in extreme cases of unbearable heat bordering on sudden death, we'll eat a fresh salad. In this one: watermelon, grilled bell peppers, chickpeas, lettuce, and paprika vinaigrette! Ready to dig in?

  • -Romaine lettuce 1
  • -bell pepper 1
  • -watermelon 0.2
  • -cooked chickpeas 100 (g)
  • -olive oil 1 (tbsp)
  • -light brown sugar 1 (tsp)
  • -salt
The vinaigrette
  • -olive oil 50 (mL)
  • -balsamic vinegar 20 (mL)
  • -paprika 1 (tbsp)

  • Prepare the grilled bell peppers: cut the bell pepper into thin slices. In a small saucepan, heat the oil. Add the peppers and let them grill over high heat. Add a bit of water, the brown sugar, and cover the saucepan. Let it cook for about 15 minutes while keeping an eye on it. The peppers should be very tender. Season with salt.
  • Cut the lettuce into wide strips. Dice the watermelon into small triangles.
  • Prepare the dressing: mix all the ingredients together.
  • In deep plates, divide the salad, chickpeas, grilled peppers, and watermelon, and serve with dressing.
