I wanted to show you another way to serve breaded tofu that I absolutely love 😍. We eat tacos really often at our place, as you may have noticed... Here, it’s super simple: a cabbage salad, tarragon leaves, breaded tofu, and the sauces of your choice. You can also add cucumber, tomato, or a leaf of lettuce... For the sauces, I couldn't decide 😅. So I made: - A sour cream (just soy cream thickened with lemon juice) mixed with Buffalo sauce from @bumblebloomvegan - A fresh tarragon mayo - A homemade barbecue sauce

For the breaded tofu
  • -firm tofu 450 (g)
  • -plant-based margarine 70 (g)
  • -all-purpose flour 75 (g)
  • -cornflakes 40 (g)
  • -toasted sesame oil 2 (tbsp)
  • -soy sauce 2 (tbsp)
  • -maple syrup 2 (tbsp)
  • -balsamic vinegar 1 (tbsp)
  • -nutritional yeast 3 (tbsp)

  • Tear the tofu into large chunks. Mix it with sesame oil, soy sauce, maple syrup, balsamic vinegar, and nutritional yeast.
  • In a skillet, heat the margarine. Cook the tofu in it until it is golden on all sides.
  • Crush the corn flakes coarsely.
  • Mix the flour with 1/2 cup (125 mL) of water. Pour this mixture over the tofu nuggets to coat them. Dip each one in the corn flakes to bread them.
  • Fry the breaded tofu nuggets either in a pan with neutral oil, in a deep fryer, or in an air fryer, until all the breading is golden.
  • In the meantime, prepare the coleslaw: finely slice the cabbage and mix it with the mayonnaise.
  • Top the tacos with coleslaw, breaded tofu, and your choice of sauces (sour cream, barbecue sauce, herb sauce, hot sauces, buffalo sauce...).
