Heading to a Korean restaurant for some bibimbap is sometimes the only truly delicious option when you want to dine out in some cities as a vegan πŸ˜… There's always a tofu option, and even though it's a super simple dish, it's always incredibly tasty!

Today, I'm sharing my version with glazed tofu!

For the sides, I've chosen marinated carrots, cucumber, and canned bean sprouts! But you can use whatever you have on hand 😍

  • -firm tofu 250 (g)
  • -soy sauce 60 (mL)
  • -cornstarch 2 (tbsp)
  • -ketchup 2 (tbsp)
  • -orange juice 80 (mL)
  • -neutral oil 1 (tbsp)
  • -sweet soy sauce 60 (mL)
  • -toasted sesame oil 1 (tbsp)
  • -sesame 1 (tbsp)
  • -basmati rice 130 (g)

  • In a pot of water, cook the rice for 18 minutes, then drain it.
  • Cut the tofu into cubes and mix it with 1 tbsp of starch.
  • In a bowl, mix 1 tbsp of cornstarch, soy sauce, ketchup, and orange juice. You can also add some hot sauce!
  • In a frying pan, heat the neutral oil over high heat. Fry the tofu cubes for about 8 minutes, stirring occasionally to ensure all sides are nicely browned.
  • Pour the prepared sauce earlier, still on high heat. It will immediately glaze the tofu by coating it. Mix and stop cooking.
  • In a small bowl, mix the sweet soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, and sesame seeds.
  • In deep plates, serve the rice, your choice of raw vegetables, and the glazed tofu. Serve with the sesame sauce!

NotesFor the gluten-free version, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
