Sweet and Sour Tofu with Vegan Honey

Sweet and Sour Tofu with Vegan Honey
For: 2 serv.Difficulty: EasyPreparation: 10 minCooking: 20 min

I have a jar of apple-based honey at home, and I wasn't really consuming it daily, so I wanted to create a recipe with it! It's a vegan honey substitute made in Montreal by the company Bumble Bloom, which I really like (we sell their products in my grocery store). It inspired me to make this honey grilled tofu with sweet and sour flavors 😍 It's very quick to make as well!

  • Begin cooking the rice in a pot of water for 20 minutes.
  • Tear the tofu into large chunks and place them in a bowl. Mix them with the vinegar and malted yeast.
  • In a frying pan, heat the toasted sesame oil and sauté the tofu pieces. Continue cooking until they are nicely golden brown!
  • Deglaze with soy sauce, then add the vegan honey.
  • Drain the rice.
  • In deep plates, serve the rice and tofu. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.

NotesFor a gluten-free version, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
